On the subject of backstage passes…..

One thing backstage passes are NOT SOLD at the box office or thru any online ticket place like Ticketmaster. Or sold on any website for that matter.
You either have to be working with the band or the concert or know someone personally that is connected directly to the band, promoters or the concert….
Or personally know a member of the band..

There are FOUR WAYS to get a backstage pass. From somebody that posted this information here on Yahoo Answers in the past. That is really knowledgeable
on this subject & some editing of my NYC experience on this.

1)
You must KNOW someone connected with the band or tour, more like a relative that works for the band/concert/promoters. Or, if you are lucky have a friend or a neighbor that has a relative that works for the band or the promoters directly. Or somebody you personally knows that
works for the band or promoters directly that has these connections.

2)
Be a news reporter. You would have to be one connected to your local newspaper or local TV/radio news team. Also, people that are internet news bloggers very rarely get these unless they are very well know in the news industry. I have seen a few teens that get a website
and claim they are a news blogger (Sorry, that just don’t cut it).
Also, the news people can’t just show up with their news crew and be let
in backstage. They have to arrange this in advance. Especially these days.

3)
A local radio station will sometime have a backstage pass or two of the concert
and offer it as a promotional prize.
Either you have to be the 7th or 10th or 12th caller.
Or hope that the entry form you filled out gets picked out by the radio DJ or whoever they
have in a random drawing at the radio station.

4)
Sometimes a person will have one and will sell it on EBAY online auction or Craigslist
and EXPECT to pay REALLY BIG DOLLARS (like hundreds or thousands) for one.
You have to be careful when buying these from these websites. Some people I have seen
that show up at a concert and pay $300.00 and more on one only to learn that
the backstage pass they bought is nothing but a laminated fake that someone made on
his home computer that security can easily spot.

Some of these backstage passes have bar codes or security strips on
them, depending on the agents and promoters.
On some concerts the promoters will give a backstage pass to a person. Sometime these backstage passes are not transferable. If the person is not the name on the ID code
on this backstage pass they could be in some trouble.

Those are the ONLY WAY you will get a backstage pass legally.

Catering: If you get to the venue early enough before doors open, there’s a chance someone on the tour will come out to the line to ask for volunteers for the day. Catering always gets three groups of about five kids each early in the morning to volunteer for the breakfast, lunch or dinner shifts. You get to serve the bands and crew … In return you receive VIP passes for the day. Sometimes they take you up onstage to watch your favorite band if you serve during the dinner shift.

Girlz Garage: This one is for all the ladies! GG gets girls to volunteer, before doors open, to help with setup and to help out during the day with Keep a Breast and the other organizations there. You get a VIP pass too most of the time, and if you’re a good worker, they’ll take you up onstage. And the bands always stop by, so who knows who you’ll be hanging out with.

Warped Reporter: If you complete all the online surveys before Warped Tour starts, you’ll be randomly entered into a contest to be one of 10 people to get entry into a show and a VIP pass. You’ll also get to go onstage for a band’s set. Throughout the tour, random contests are also held for other chances to win a VIP pass.

Music Saves Lives: If you donate blood at a local MSL blood drive, you get a VIP pass in return. No, you can’t give blood at Warped Tour – you’d pass out if you did. But you can sign up to become a bone-marrow donor, and you can get a VIP pass that way too. All they do is swab your cheek and drop it in an envelope. Remember, you have to be 18+ to be a bone-marrow donor.

Eco Initiative: If you’re up for volunteering to recycle all day in exchange for VIP perks including a ticket to the show, then this is for you. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but for those who are passionate about making a difference. There’s also other chances to win different things by recycling a few bottles here and there. You can even enter to win a trip to Saint Croix in the Virgin Islands with Warped staff and crew in the fall.

Boarding for Breast Cancer: If you’re passionate about raising money for B4BC, you can volunteer and get into Warped through them. E-mail volunteer@b4bc.org with your full name and city in which you’d liked to attend a show.

Street Teams: These record labels and companies all use their street teams for volunteers: Alternative Press, Sugar Hooker, Fueled by Ramen, Hopeless Records, Fearless Records, The Street Network, Capitol Records, Suretone Records, Atlantic Records, Vagrant Records, peta2, To Write Love on Her Arms.

American Idol Back Stage Passes (Tour Concert not show)?

Hi! I have a question. I KNOW its nearly impossible. You don’t have to tell me that but I’m trying to get backstage passes to the American Idol Concert in MA. I sent an email to the tour sponsors, radio station, arena that the show is held, even American Idol itself in hopes of getting passes. Has anyone tried something like this before and did it work? And if you know anyone who could get me some passses….. lol. Okay plz answer.

admin answers:

I am not sure if they hand out meet and greet passes?

However, I have heard that people can occasionally meet some of the American Idol contestants after the show near the tour buses.

Mary asks…
